WHAT IS THE SCIENCE & ENGINEERING FAIR?

 
The goal of the science & engineering fair is to learn about science & engineering and the scientific method through a “hands-on” experiential process.
  • Science & Engineering Fair is an at-home independent study project.
  • Parent participation is allowed and encouraged.
  • Support is available through your classroom teacher, the internet, the school library and this year we will have help sessions where you can come get some help from parents.
  • All students in any grade may enter. Projects are grouped in categories by grade.
  • All projects will be displayed at Parmalee. Category winners from Grades 2 through 5 are invited to go to the Mountain Area Science Fair.
  • The projects require planning and time. Now is the time to begin!

Division I (K and 1st Grade) and Division II (2nd and 3rd Grade) takes place February 5th.
Division III (4th and 5th Grade) also takes place February 5th.

Schedule

Dec. 16 (Mon.)     Display Boards available at front office.  One display board per child.

Jan 15 (Wed.)    Registration Deadline - ALL REGISTRATIONS DUE

Science & Engineering Fair Packets available on-line starting 12/16/20 in the Monday Messenger under Science Fair and on the PTA website www.parmaleepta.orgClick the Science and Engineering Fair link. 

Jan 22 (Wed.)     Last day to change project category.  Please email one of the science fair coordinators.

Feb 4 (Tues.)      3:30-7:00pm:  Set-Up/Project check-in for all Divisions

Feb 5 (Wed.)       8-10am:  Set-Up/Project check-in for all Divisions

                         10am-1pm:  Division III (grades 4 & 5) Judging                        

                         1:30-3:30pm:  Division I (grades K & 1) Judging 

                         4-6pm:   Division II (grades 2 & 3) Judging

Feb 6. (Thurs.)   8-9am:  Parent Viewing

                         9am-3:30pm:  Student Viewing

                         3:30-6pm:  Parent viewing and project take down 

    **Division II and Division III 1st place winners can’t be taken down/home** 

Feb 7 (Fri.)         8-10am:  Project take down by all students.  1st place finishers in Division II and III will be transported to the Mountain Area Science & Engineering Fair, Evergreen Country Day School.

                         4-6pm: Project Check In for Mountain Area Science & Engineering Fair.

Feb 8 (Sat.)        Mountain Area Science & Engineering Fair (MASEF) – at Evergreen Country Day School

                         12pm-2pm: viewing for parents and students and project pick up
